Artist's Comments

EDIT: Now, version 1.2.

I changed the glasses to be chocolate and dark red, and the earrings to be brushed gold wire. The shoes are also now gold leather.
I'm having trouble on the color of the hat. If I make it the same color as the dress, she ends up looking like Carmen Sandiego. Advice?

---

I decided to 'adult-up' my last version of the dress, which not very many people might have seen, but I wasn't crazy about it anyway, so forget that. I think the big hoop earrings and the glasses+hat give it almost a vintage sort of look, but keeping it modern with the cut and fit.

The dress would be primarily scarlet silk jersey, with matching buttons up the side and neck clasp, with the edges of the neckline being slightly ruffley. The sleeves would pouf out, and the waist would be gathered at an angle to get that cinchy look. The shoes would be leather with an ankle clasp, and the hat would match the dress. The earrings are red wire with red bead accents. The glasses frames would be opaque brown plastic, with dark red-to-lighter red colored lenses.

I'm really pleased with how this came out, but please critique so I can make it even better before the deadline.

the accessories dont HAVE to be red.

the accessories definitely should be a different color to make the dress pop more

Oh, alright. I guess I got confused because I saw another judge say something about everything being red, but cool, I can work something out!

Aahaha, thanks. XD The slit is a bit high, but she may just have to walk carefully, or else have to deal with even more buttons.

Hey loveee,
(Ah there's spell check here, too. God damn you spell check!)
I just spent all day watching the project Runway Marathon, so I'm in a totally critique-y mood. Don't take it personally and definitely disagree with me. This is such such such a gorgeous dress, and I'd feel super bad if you decided to change it into something more ugly because of my comment, and then the judges didn't like it... Ah that'd be horrible! So these are not actual critiques, more like suggestions, you know, if you don't have any other ideas you can play around with what I say.
If the accessories don't have to match, they definitely should not. While the whole redness looks cool, it also looks kinda over the top ridiculous. I ADORE the cinching on the side with the buttons, a really original way to high light her waist and make it fit great. I also really like the small little holes (keyholes? cutaways? I don't really know my fashion lingo) on either side of the neck, and the buttons and thingies look great on the neck! I'm a little bit worried about having such a low neckline with a high slit- that's alot of skin there. Both parts are really eye-catching and beautiful so its really hard to say if you actually should get rid of one... it's tough. I guess just keep that in mind. I like how the round puffy sleeves echo the buttons and the neck, but they don't feel (to me) to go really with the rest of the dress. I guess I like the idea of them, but not those exact proportions or something...
Lovely model, also. Very nice drawing skillz.

I was totally watching that marathon too. XDD Which inspired my frou frou crazy description.
I totally agree with the accessories, I shall be making them unmatchmatch as soon as I can.
I kinda like the over-exposure of skin, which makes me kinda sound like a creepass. But anyway: the skirt does seem a bit dangerous, but I wasn't able to lengthen the button seam thingy and still have the cinchy bit look as dramatic, y'know? As for the keyholes... frack it. I just like them. XDD
Hmm... I shall indeed think about the poufy sleevey things a bit... good call...

This looks awesome as a drawing, but if actually made it would be way too vulgar. Her boobs would spill out and her rear and maybe even her undies would show if she tried to move, which is okay for celebutantes but not for a sophisticated lady. However, I love the silhouette and neckline, and I think this is a really good start.
