Artist's Comments

Mmm. I'm not really feeling this one. I wish I'd remembered when it was due earlier so I could have gotten more critiques.

This is my tailor-modified trench. The body is wool, with an extra structured collar to make it huge like that. The sleeves on the trench are raglan-style, to provide a sloping shoulder and rounded look. The seams of the darts connect with the pockets on the front.

Acrylic scarf, wool newsboy hat, cotton skinny leg trousers, and leather boots.

I went a little avant-garde, or at least tried to. I'm thinking that high collar would serve nicely with a New York City winter... hmm...

this looks like a very comfy oversized jacket. i am curious to see what colour it will end up. it has an irish countryside feel, probably because of the styling as well.
the head looks a bit small compared to the rest of the body, i think. but the rest is great!

I really like this.. especially the collar.. very pretty.. I wonder what fabrics you'd use for that.
One issue I have about this design are the sleeves actually... I don't see yet how they'd work on a technical level.
A raglan sleeve has two seams usually... top and bottom..from what it looks on your design you only have one seam.. and I don't think you'd get the right shape like this.. just my thoughts. :)

Hmmm.... good point. I was thinking of adding another mirroring the one on the front... but again, I'm not sure how it would be constructed. I'm still quite a newbie with actual fashion concepts and construction. XD

I like it. Although the collar might restrict view somewhat...

I like the body a lot. The coat itself seems very good, but the coll-- god, I can't spell this word! seems very impractical. But looks nice anyway.

Maybe tone it down a little? or don't, if that was the effect you wanted to create.

You need a bigger head.

Now that I have that off my chest, I like the look, its very strong and imposing (kinda makes the model look like a giant, just because of the proportions and how tall the collar is.)

References for the seams of sleeves: take a look at [link] or [link] for raglan sleeves.

Actually, I think I'll bring one of my books down the hall to you, and let you look through all the patterns (aren't you glad I'm learning all about patterning?)
